For the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Quebec City by the French explorer Samuel de Champlain, Boats of the World proposes a splendid model of the Don de Dieu a caravel on board of which Samuel de Champlain went up the St-Laurent River to Quebec in 1608. That ship of 160T. Departed from the port of Honfleur, France, early May 1608 to make his landfall in Stadacone (now Quebec City) on July 3rd 1608. Captain Timothée le Barbier was member of the crew of a French expedition which in 1604 explored the coast of Acadia (now the Canadian Maritimes). Samuel de Champlain took part in the expedition as a cartographer.
