                                                                              USS Constitution (1798)

It took 4 years (1795-1798) to complete de building of Constitution at the Hartt Shipyard in Boston under the supervision of naval architect Joshua Humphrey from Philadelphia. She was armed with 44 canons when she participates in the war of 1812. Her last wartime voyage was in 1815. Constitution became the flagship of the Mediterranean Squadron on May 13th 1821. The government wanted to scrap the ship but change his mind and restored Constitution in 1833. She went back to Europe in 1848 and back in America for a long period where she undertook 3 major restoration projects before she began a 3 year voyage under tow visiting 90 US ports. Today Constitution is the oldest warship still in active service and kept with a lot of attention in Boston Harbor.
