Typhoon was design by the famous George Crouch in 1929 when Edsel Ford ordered a copy of Teaser, the world fastest racer boat. She could carry 8 people in 3 separate cockpit offering poor security and comfort. This racer was uses to transport Edsel Ford from his home on Lake St-Clair to his office in Detroit. In 1941, Howard Hugues bought the boat and used it until the end of the war. Then she moved to the West Coast after different ownerships in the East. She has been destroyed in a  fire  in a Washington State marina at the end of the sixties.
