Currently the only existing three decked square rigger, Amerigo Vespucci was built in 1931 as a three masts steel tall ship inspired by late 18th century style. When commissioned, it belonged to the Castellammare de Stabia (Naples). She has an overall length of 101m, a 15 m. beam and a 7 m. draft. With two diesel engine of 1,000 hp, it reaches a cruise speed of 6.5 knots. She is docked in the port of Livorno in Italy and serves as a school ship for the marine cadets. Amerigo Vespucci often participates in international tall ships parade and races. She can accommodate up to 450 sailors. She holds a life-size figurehead of Amerigo Vespucci.
She was seen in Québec old port in 2017 when participating in the Tall Ships Rendez-vous. She sailed upstream to Montreal for a second time in 20 years.
